What is Efficiency Nova Scotia's Eco Shift program?
By joining the Eco Shift program, you can earn rewards on your Efficiency Nova Scotia bill for reducing your electricity consumption during short periods of high demand, known as “peak events.” By changing your energy consumption, you help reduce pressure on the power grid and receive money in return.
Your smart devices help out! On cold winter days, when power grids strain, the devices get a signal from Efficiency Nova Scotia.
Your heating will subtly adjust for a bit – barely noticeable!

How does it work?
The Neviweb app makes registering your devices for the Eco Shift program easy and helps reduce electricity consumption during peak times.
1. Enroll your eligible devices in the Eco Shift program during purchase or after through the Sinopé Neviweb app, and select your profile.
2. Sign-up bonuses are paid via a digital prepaid Mastercard from MyPrepaidCenter. You will receive a redemption code via email from ecoshift@clearesult.com, along with instructions on how to access it.
3. We do the work and you earn rewards! We will manage your devices during peak events and you earn an incentive at the end of the season per device type.
4. You can opt out of an event at any time, and you'll maintain full override control of your enrolled devices.

FAQs
Who can qualify?
To be eligible for the Eco Shift program, customers must:
- Be a Nova Scotia Power customer on a residential or commercial rate code.
- Be the authorized name on the account.
- Customers on the Time-of-Day Rate are not eligible.
- Accept the terms and conditions of the program.
- Have an eligible device(s) that is :
- Owned by the participant
- Electrically powered
- Commonly operated from December through February
- Consistently connected to the internet
- Not actively participating in and/or receiving recurring incentives from an existing Efficiency Nova Scotia demand response program
Which device models are eligible for rebates?
Only these Wi-Fi thermostat models are eligible for rebates:
- Smart thermostats for electric baseboard heaters with color display - TH1143WF & TH1144WF
- Smart Lite thermostats for electric baseboard heaters - TH1133WF & TH1134WF
- Smart thermostat for heated floors - TH1310WF
Is there a maximum discount amount that I can receive?
- Maximum rebate of up to $105* for eligible smart thermostats:
- First thermostat registered: $25*
- Additional thermostats: $20*
- At the end of each event season, you will also receive a participation bonus for each category of devices that has been successfully registered and has participated in at least 50% of the demand response events scheduled between December 1 and February 28.*Rebates are subject to change from year to year.
When will I receive my rewards?
Enrollment incentives for any devices you initially enroll in Eco Shift will be processed within 30 days of approval. Approval can be expected within 10 business days of enrolling in the program.
Participation incentives for smart thermostats, EVs, EV chargers or home batteries will be issued in the spring, following the demand response season. Incentives for any additional devices you enroll after approval will either be included with your participation incentive in the spring or during device reconciliation in the fall.
What to expect during a peak event?
- You don't have to do anything except register via the SInopé Neviweb app. Smart thermostats will automatically reduce their temperature by 2 degrees Celsius. We can preheat up to 30 minutes before the start of the event to maintain your comfort.
- An event will not last more than four consecutive hours.
- You can opt out of an event at any time by pressing any button on your devices.
- You will always have full control over your devices.
When are the events taking place?
Events take place during the demand management season, which runs from December 1 to February 28. They can be scheduled on weekdays, in the morning or evening, and last up to four hours. There will be at least one event, and a maximum of 12, per season.
How can you tell when a peak event takes place?
During a peak event, the DR or éco icon will appear in the tile of each participating device in the Sinopé Neviweb app. In addition, the same icon will appear on the thermostat display and will flash throughout the event.
How do I opt-out of a peak event?
To opt out of an event, you can simply adjust the temperature up or down manually on the thermostats or via the Sinopé Neviweb app.
