A well-designed smart home should consist of devices that are intuitive, reliable, and made for real-world use. That's exactly what Sinopé Technologies delivers. They offer an array of high-quality, made-to-last smart devices. I've been using their thermostats for years, and recently updated my home with their latest high-end color display model that shows outdoor weather and time. Here are my all-time favorite Sinopé thermostat features.

1. Customizable Temperature Control That Actually Fits Your Life

In my opinion, this is where Sinopé really shines. You can set minimum and maximum temperature locks. I did this with my Airbnb suite. I noticed some guests would crank the thermostat to 30 degrees Celsius and then open the window because it was too hot. I installed a Sinopé thermostat and set the maximum temperature to 25 degrees. Problem solved—no more wasted energy.

You get up to 12 temperature periods per day, seven days a week, so your schedule can be as simple or as detailed as you need. My advice is to program the temperature based on your family's work or school schedule.

Geofencing means the system knows when you leave and return, so you're never heating an empty home but always come back to warmth. In addition, you have voice assistant integration, remote control from your smartphone, and the ability to manage everything from virtually anywhere. Your home adapts to you, not the other way around.

2. Display Options Designed for Real Bedrooms and Real People

Here's a detail that shows Sinopé thinks about how people live: the display options. You can choose "always on" if you like seeing the information at a glance. You can select "on demand" where the display lights up when you press a button. And there's also the "Bedroom mode," which is great for hallways or rooms where you don't want light at night.

The high-end models even show outdoor temperature, weather, and time. This turns your thermostat into something that's useful beyond just temperature control. The Lite models keep it minimalist with just the temperature reading.

3. Whole-Home Energy Optimization Without the Thinking

The real magic happens when you look at your home as a complete system rather than individual rooms. This is why I decided to retrofit all the thermostats in my home.

Sinopé's automation ensures all your thermostats have the right temperature setpoint all the time. Schedules, scenes, and smart automation work together to reduce energy waste when you don't need heating. For example, turn your bathroom heat down at night and have it back to room temperature when you wake up. Then schedule it to go down when everyone is at work and school, and back up before everyone returns. That's energy savings without compromising comfort.

Bonus Feature: Éco Sinopé Handles Peak Events Hassle-Free with Maximum Comfort

If you're enrolled in BC Hydro's Peak Saver program, this is where Sinopé truly outshines other smart thermostats. Peak events are brief periods when everyone's using electricity at once, typically during morning and evening hours. BC Hydro asks enrolled devices to make small adjustments during these times to help balance the electrical grid and rewards you for participating.

Other Peak Saver-eligible thermostats simply set back your temperature by up to three degrees. Sinopé's Éco Sinopé feature puts you in control of your comfort.

Through the Sinopé Neviweb app, you choose your own savings profile. Want minimal impact? Select the "Cold-sensitive" profile, which only adjusts temperature by 1.5 degrees Celsius during events. Since BC Hydro rewards participation rather than performance, you still earn the full seasonal reward. Prefer more aggressive savings? Choose a profile with a larger setback. The choice is all yours.

Sinopé also offers an optional preheat period. This feature is unique to Sinopé thermostats. Before a peak event begins, your thermostat can raise the temperature slightly to accumulate heat. Then, when the savings period starts and the temperature is lowered, you've got that thermal buffer built up, so you barely notice the adjustment.

Most customers say they don't even notice when events are happening, yet they're earning seasonal rewards and contributing to a more stable grid. With Éco Sinopé, you get maximum comfort, complete control, and effortless participation.

The Bottom Line

Sinopé has spent over 15 years refining smart home technology for how Canadians live and heat their homes. The devices are compatible with the heating systems we actually have—baseboard, convector, and fan-forced heaters. They offer universal 2-wire or standard 3-wire connections that work in any home.

Heads up!

We noticed your cart contains both Zigbee and Wi-Fi devices. These two technologies work differently and are not directly compatible.

  • Wi-Fi devices connect to your home router.
  • Zigbee devices require a Zigbee hub or compatible gateway.

Are you sure this is the setup you want?
