If you already have eligible Sinopé thermostats installed at home or are looking to switch to smart thermostats, we need your help. Hydro One is inviting its residential customers to participate in a new way of using smart thermostats to optimize energy consumption. How the program works

During the winter season, all residents use heating systems simultaneously, leading to spikes in energy consumption and overloading the power grid. To address this issue, Hydro One has launched myEnergy Rewards, a program to promote smart technology to manage energy demand and stabilize the grid during periods of high demand.

In collaboration with Éco Sinopé and Sinopé smart thermostats, this program automatically reduces energy demand during peak events, allowing participants to earn a reward for their contribution.

Who can qualify?

To be eligible for the myEnergy Rewards program, customers must:

  • Be a residential Hydro One customer
  • Have eligible smart thermostats
  • Have a Wi-Fi network connected to smart devices

How to sign up?

The Neviweb app makes registering your devices for the myEnergy Rewards program easy and helps reduce electricity consumption during peak times.

Access your Neviweb account and click on the Éco Sinopé option.

Select myEnergy Rewards, complete the required information, and read and accept the program's terms and conditions.

Select your profile and make any necessary customizations.

What to expect during a peak event

Here is some information about these events:

  • If you already have eligible devices, sign up via the Neviweb app and select a profile. Based on your choices, we will remotely adjust the setpoint of your Sinopé devices for a few hours during events.
  • Events may occur between November and April. There will be no more than 20 events during the heating season.
  • The duration of events will vary, ranging from a minimum of one hour to a maximum of four hours.
  • Before a peak event, you will receive an email, get a notification via SMS and in the Neviweb app about the upcoming event. During an event, the thermostat screen and the Neviweb app will display the “eco” logo, indicating that the device is actively participating.
  • You retain control of your devices and can opt out of an individual event at any time by manually adjusting your thermostats during the event.
