1 million+ Quebecers will buy a smart device in 2019
Over a million Quebec adults plan to buy at least one smart home device in the coming year.
That’s 15% of the population aged 18 and over!
The recent study unveiled by CEFRIO shows a growing interest of Quebecers for the smart home. Among the devices coveted by future buyers are thermostats, switches, and dimmers, as well as smart water damage protection systems.
The craze observed among our American neighbors is gradually transmitted to us …
Indeed, 26% of U.S. households already own at least one smart device – more than one in four. This is a staggering 35% growth from the 2016 adoption rate of 19% according to Parks Associates, a research firm specializing in the Internet of Things and smart home topics.

🏠The smart home is the use of connected objects in the sphere of the home. 🏠
Why do we adopt the smart home?
Interestingly, Americans and Quebecers do not adopt connected objects for the same reasons. The former prioritize the savings generated, the practicality and the control of the house. As for Quebecers, they are stimulated by the improvement of comfort and quality of life, the interest in new products, and in a better entertainment experience. Symbol of modern times and our society focused on well-being and entertainment?
Whether you adopt connected objects for one of these reasons or for another, the fact remains that the smart home presents with certainty practical aspects in everyday life. They simplify tasks, allow them to be done remotely (and thus optimize our time) and to make better use of energy.
